Aquiles Serdán is a small town located in the state of Chihuahua in northern Mexico. The town is named after Aquiles Serdán, a revolutionary leader who played a significant role in the Mexican Revolution. He was born in the nearby city of Puebla but moved to Chihuahua in 1910 to join the revolutionary movement.
Aquiles Serdán became involved in the revolutionary cause through his brother, Máximo Serdán, who was also a revolutionary leader. Máximo and Aquiles organized a rebellion against the government of Porfirio Díaz, who had been in power for over thirty years. They planned to lead an uprising in the town of Puebla, but the government found out and sent troops to stop them.
On November 18, 1910, the government troops arrived at the Serdán family home, where Aquiles and Máximo were barricaded with other revolutionaries. A shootout occurred, and Aquiles was fatally wounded. His death became a symbol of the revolutionary movement, and his ideals inspired many others to join the fight.
Today, Aquiles Serdán is a small, quiet town with a population of around 3,000 people. The town is named after the revolutionary leader and has a museum dedicated to his life and legacy. The museum features exhibits about the Mexican Revolution and the role that Aquiles played in it. The town is also known for its natural beauty and is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
